ABOUT OUR LOGO
Our logo, the Irish ship, "Brendan", commemorates a successful and inspiring partnership and project, illustrating a project process that is applicable to industrial projects. In the Sixth Century, Saint Brendan of Ireland completed a sea voyage which, according to strong evidence, included landing in Newfoundland, a discovery of America almost 1,000 years before Columbus. In 1975, Irishman Tim Severin undertook a project to re-enact this voyage and, on June 26, 1977, success was achieved when he and his four shipmates reached Newfoundland. A critical phase of the project was the design and building of the Brendan, a unique ship having a flexible hull made of ox hides, a giant coracle, like the boat described in Saint Brendan’s account of his voyage.
The project management processes of a well-led industrial project were applied by Captain Tim Severin, as he followed the logical steps of planning, funding, design engineering, selection of team members, team building and training, risk management, procurement, ship-building, and, finally, the voyage itself. During the exciting voyage, ancient navigational aids served as “project controls” and, as in the case of all projects, “change management” was needed and applied, to deal with storms, currents, wind changes and icebergs, and to get back on course. Safety always came first, as it does in a United Partners' project.
Serving “on board” our customers’ project teams, we consider ourselves and our customer’s staff to be “all in the same boat”, as we pursue our common goal of maximizing the project’s success in all dimensions, Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule, with Safety first - and never compromised.
The two sails of our logo’s ship symbolize the role of our team members in combination with the role of our customer's team members, both working together in a true partnership to achieve a common goal, our customer's objectives. Our know-how complements your staff'’s know-how.
